Fatty alcohols were first made from cetacean, and the resulting mixed fatty alcohols were sulfonated and neutralized to sulfate, one of the earliestanionic detergent. Subsequently, coconut oil, palm oil and butter, which are abundant in sources, were developed and utilized as raw materials. The fatty acids resulting from the hydrolysis are again reduced to alcohols. Collectively referred to as natural fatty alcohols. After the development of the petrochemical industry, the production of fatty alcohols from petroleum products is called synthetic fatty alcohols. The more important methods for the production of fatty alcohols are high-pressure hydrogenation, Ziegler and oxo synthesis. If the hair mask contains unsaturated fatty alcohol, it can repair and nourish hair; the addition of fatty alcohol to lip gloss can enhance the smoothness of the product when used.
