In recent years, with the tightening of national safety and environmental protection and regulatory policies, China's surfactant industry has undergone years of industrial integration, small and scattered enterprises with backward production technology have been forced to withdraw from the market, and the industry concentration has been increasing. In August 2021, according to the outline of the 14th five-year Plan for National Economic and Social Development and the guiding ideology of the 2035 long-term goal, the China Detergent Industry Association issued the "14th five-year Plan" high-quality Development guidance for the surfactant Industry and the "14th five-year Plan" high-quality Development guidance for China's detergent Industry, making it clear that we will vigorously develop natural oil-derived surfactants under local resources and promote the green and sustainable development of the industry. In December 2021, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the "14th Five-Year" Industrial Green Development Plan, which gave the development direction of transformation and upgrading, green and low-carbon. The introduction of relevant policies will further promote the development of China's surfactant industry to high-quality, high quality, environmental protection, green and low-carbon, the capital, technology and scale advantages of the leading enterprises in the industry will be further improved, and the competitiveness of the industry will be further strengthened.

According to the statistics of China surfactant industry alliance, in 2022, the total output of 67 scale enterprises in the surfactant industry will reach 4.262 million tons and the sales volume will reach 4.209 million tons, with a year-on-year increase of 3.6 and 2.1 respectively. Among them, the production of anionic surfactant was 1.718 million tons.
Surfactants are mainly used in detergent, cosmetics, food processing, textile printing and dyeing and other industries. Most of the products produced in these industries have gradually become necessities in people's lives. Therefore, although the surfactant industry and the country's macroeconomic fluctuations have a certain linkage, but the cyclical performance is not strong. With the rapid development of China's economy and the transformation of high-quality economic structure, the national health awareness and hygiene habits are increasing day by day, the personalized demand for personal care is constantly emerging, and the consumption demand of tourism and hotel industry continues to grow, which has promoted the steady development of China's care industry and promoted the long-term stable growth of surfactant demand in the field of care, The average annual growth rate of domestic surfactant market is more than 8%.

What are fatty alcohols

Fatty alcohols are aliphatic alcohols having a chain of 8 to 22 carbon atoms. Fatty alcohols typically have an even number of carbon atoms and one hydroxyl group attached to the end of the carbon chain. One of the raw materials for detergent surfactants. The general formula is ROH. R of the detergent alcohol is generally a C12 to C18 hydrocarbon group. Such a high carbon fatty alcohol has an amphiphilic character, I .e., a hydrophobic group such as a hydrocarbon chain and a hydrophilic group such as a hydroxyl group in the molecule. However, due to the solubility in water is very low, it is necessary to add hydrophilic groups or convert hydroxyl groups into sulfuric acid groups, so that after the hydrophilic-lipophilic balance value reaches the necessary value, the fatty alcohol derivative has enough hydrophilic groups to dissolve in water, and can become aggregates (micelles), the fatty alcohol derivative is the surfactant. For example, dodecanol is insoluble in water, but when it is changed into sodium lauryl sulfate, due to the addition of a sulfate group (-SO3-), the water solubility becomes better, and micelles can be formed in water, reaching a certain concentration, showing very good surface activity. It is the use of this characteristic, fatty alcohol as raw material, produced a variety of surfactants with various excellent properties.
